Boro's Studio 80 + Sculpture Grounds Featured on News 12 - Road Trip: Close to Home - Old Lyme

News 12 - Road Trip: Close to Home - Old Lyme boasts beautiful landscape, thriving art community

The town of Old Lyme boasts a beautiful setting along the Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River.

Since the late 1800's, many artists have settled in and used the shoreline backdrop as inspiration for their art.

Studio 80 + Sculpture Grounds is a vibrant community environment dedicated to arts education and appreciation on the Connecticut shoreline. Our mission is to create a bond between art, nature & people by inspiring and promoting participation in the arts. Studio 80 + Sculpture Grounds is situated on 4.5 acres on the Lieutenant River in the historic district of Old Lyme, Connecticut.  A center for the arts in Connecticut, and the birthplace of American Impressionism, Old Lyme is now also a center for abstract sculptural works from Studio 80. Located next door to the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, where realistic figurative painting and sculpture are taught, Studio 80 + Sculpture Grounds embraces the other traditional fine art establishments within this town while stepping “outside the box” to create and display abstract sculptural works inspired by nature. Studio 80 is the personal working space of Gilbert V. Boro. The 3500 sq. foot building was designed by Boro to complement the architectural design of the neighboring Lyme Academy of Fine Art.

Although the Sculpture Grounds remain open daily from 9-5pm, Studio 80 is currently closed to the public for the safety and well-being of our staff, visitors & artists.

We invite you to visit Studio 80 + Sculpture Grounds.  A look at this peaceful, shaded retreat is a must any time of the year.  The Sculpture Grounds is open to the public from 9 am - 5 pm daily. Children are welcome and admission is free.
